Recent Speakers to our Monthly Meetings:

Dr. Natasha Mithal ,Consultant Oncologist
spoke to the Ladies

On 25th April, Dr. Mithal held a short meeting with members’ wives.  Along with her own introduction she provided details of  other  staff and their roles within the field of PC.

Dr. Mithal gave members the opportunity to ask a wide range of  questions which were answered fully, frankly and sensitively.   Dr. Mithal’s responses provided us with a good overview of many aspects of PC together with information of research and  the  latest treatments now available, which are too recent to be included in the PC general information   booklets.

Dr. Mithal has suggested that the group meet on a quarterly basis alternating with other members of her team.  The whole group were extremely appreciative of the time Dr. Mithal made for us and Edwina Prior thanked her on the group’s

Steve Dann , our Speaker on March 26th '08

'Our Girls' at the Canteen amazed us by collecting a total of £107, during Prostate Awareness week.       Thanks girls .......

Steve's return visit was as successful as his first talk to us a year ago.

This time the subject was Sexual Dysfunction and Prostate Cancer, and held our members attention, with lots of questions and comments.  The final comments from the floor showed how much we had all learned.  Thanks again Steve and no doubt we shall hope to see you again.

Chairman Alan Prior, Sec. Graham Edwards supported Gerry Costa
when he was the speaker at the Rotary Club of South Foreland, Dover

John Bennett  Member of the PSA Maidstone & Tunbridge Wells Support Group and his wife Fran
gave us an interesting talk about their Diet and Exercise and the way they have together fought
John's Prostate Cancer for the last 9 years.  It was a full house at the K&C Centre of Health and Clinical Sciences
when a few wives and partners joined the members to hear about  John's Journey, as the pictures show. (28/11/07)

Dr. Bill Choi, Consultant Urologist Surgeon, gave us a talk, in front of
a full membership, about the latest techniques and options available
for the treatment of Prostate Cancer in the 21st Century.
We all agreed that had this sort of information been available to us when
we had to make decisions on each one of your cases, we would have been
better qualified to make such decisions.  The talk was lighthearted, but full of
information on the options and available choices at present.

Steve Dann, Trainee Consultant Radiographer, at the Kent Oncology Centre
and a member of our PSA Branch, gave us a complete  and most interesting
presentation entitled 'Hormone Therapy for Prostate Cancer',
in front of a full room of members.
